I’d thought I would spice things up and get all kinds of crazy with a little James Taylor
“Free”
A catchy little tune by Donavon Frankenreiter and Jack Johnson.
Life is Good...
I got back from Wal-Mart tonight and noticed the guy that checked me out crammed everything into one bag. When I got back to my room I realized my bread was a little mushed. At first I was kind of angry, but then I thought to myself, if that’s what makes me mad, then my life is great.
This is skit from SNL last night. I don’t know why, but I just thought it was one of the funnier ones they have done in a while. Maybe I’m a bad person.
updates!
Well it has only been about two weeks since I posted on here haha. Not too much has gone on. Tennis and school.
At the tennis tournament a week ago I didn’t do too great. I played two matches that i should have won. My mental game is pretty bad and I’ll just leave it at that. I haven’t gotten enough match play experience and it is just hard to do when you don’t play much. It’s just something I have to try to work on.
However, on Sunday I did something I really enjoyed. I raced for the cure! As an athlete for UTC I was suppose to attend, but not necessarlily race. I was there and thought it was a good cause so I did it anyways. Every athlete that competed was sponsored by some local doctor so in a way I contributed to research for breast cancer. The race was a 5k, which is 3.1 miles. There were 5600 and by my guesstimation I finished within the top 100. Not too shabby. I finished the 5k in 22 minutes and 41 seconds. Based on the results posted online, I would have finished 8th in my age groups and only about 4 minutes behind the guy that won the race.
Not only did I feel like I did well, but I also felt like I made a difference. It’s nice to be able to help others. I realize all I did was run, but just my body being there contributed money to research. I have no idea what I want to do in the future, but I’m really hoping it will be something that will help others. It’s nice to be the reason people smile or are happy.
Pencils in the Wind by Flight of the Conchords.
At the Beach by The Avett Brothers; I have no idea what this song is about, but it has a catchy tune and makes you want to dance.
Hola
Hello hello again. Not too much to write about, it has been an uneventful week, week and a half.
This week was packed full of exams, four exams in five days. It always makes for a great week. Tennis practice for me has finally picked back up. I was kind of in a slump for a while, but I’m back at the top of my game again. The first tournament of the season is Friday. I’m getting pretty excited about it because I haven’t gotten the chance to really play and compete in while. I try my hardest and compete at practice, but it’s a different level when you’re put into a single-elimination bracket and fighting for that little plastic trophy.
This weekend I’ve gotten to relax a little. I’ll probably start a lesson in about a week or two, a nice paycheck is on the way. Once a week I’m working at some indoor courts that a private high school. It’s a nice $25 for and hour of my time. I’m helping run a tennis clinic for some kids, they range from about 7-12 years old. They are a lot better than what I was working with over the summer; however, there are two little brothers, Abe and Levi, that just want to hit the snot out of the ball every time. I tell them to try to tap the ball or I’ll stand right in front of them and tell them to hit me and they get a prize, but they just don’t care. As long as they are having though I suppose it’s ok. They enjoy playing tag, so we do a couple games of that to keep everyone occupied and happy.
Tonight I decided to cook a hardy meal, and I believe a did a darn good job. Tonight’s menu was grilled chicken with a mesquite seasoning and a side of garlic-buttered red potatoes. I was impressed with myself. George Foreman and I make a terrific team.
This post was a litte boring, so I’ll try to find a good song to spice things up.
It's been nice knowing ya!
Well, if you haven’t heard yet, the end of the world is upon us. On September 10, 2008, scientists 300 feet below the ground near the French and Swiss border will turn on the Large Hadron Collider, or the LHC. In the name of science, they are going to smash particles together at near light speed. They are hoping to unlock the secrets of the Big Bang with this experiment. They want to form their own little universe in a 18 mile long tube.
So, I think it’s pretty safe to say that our universe was formed the same way. Some scientist however long ago wanted to explore their own big bang theory and created a similar experiment. They were successful and created our universe. We are just floating along in a long metal tube, and now we’re creating another.
Anyways, back to the end of the world. A few, hopefully crazy, scientists are saying this experiment will create “celestial vacuums” (aka black holes), thus swallowing the Earth and its inhabitants (aka us). Now, this isn’t all bad news, according to these scientists, for such and event like this to happen it would take a loooooooong 4 years. No big deal.
Another point to this is something Jamie pointed out to me. According to legend, or whatever, the Mayans have predicted the end of the world and that is why there calendar stops at a particular and odd year. It stops in the year 2012…a loooooong 4 years from now. No big deal.
Hello hello
I thought I would try to start one of these thingys since I’m never good at calling and hardly email either haha. I may update this a few times a week or maybe once a week. Not too much really goes on here in Chattanooga, it’s pretty repetitive.
I had a wonderful morning conditioning today where we ran plenty and got a nice lather going before we had a practice to give our shirts a nice soaking in sweat. We were on court for about three hours and I’m very happy to be off the courts until Monday.
I posted an ad on the internet that I can give lessons in the Chattanooga and I have had a very good response. I may have 2-3 lessons lined up for the next two months for some good quick cash. The best part is that they want to pay up front for all the lessons, it’s a tennis instructor’s dream come true.
Not much planned for today, and nothing for the long weekend. I need to clean my room a little, do some laundry, and string a racquet. Sometime today I’ll be venturing up to Wal-Mart with a Maldovian guy and a Dutch guy for some groceries. Other than that I’ll probably be doing a lot of sleeping.
Well I’ll write some more when I have something to write about. I’ll probably be adding more music and pictures than anything else. I’m listening to a lot of Du-wop and other music from the 50s and 60s. Enjoy some Frankie and the Teenagers below.
